Originally posted by VBFC 節錄自 世界男排大冠軍杯賽 Quote from World Grand Champions Cup Egypt win first WGCC game for Africa Egypt produced a proud victory for Africa in the first match on the third day of the men's World Grand Champions Cup at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Friday. The African champions beat China 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12) to record the continent's first victory in the fourth edition of the inter-continental championship. The Egyptians, ranked 21st in the world, were much more aggressive at the start than the 18th-ranked Chinese, who looked nervous and were slow to get going. Ahmed Abd Elnaeim was quickly into his groove, knocking over Shen Qiong with a trademark left-handed fireball, and Hossam Shaarawy asserted himself at the net. A block by Mohamed Elnafrawy on Chinese captain Sui Shengsheng, followed by an impressive left-wing spike from Hamdy Awad, took Egypt to the second TTO ahead by three, but China struck back with some effortless kills from Tang Miao. Assisted by Xie Wenhao, China closed right up to 22-22, before Egypt pulled away to win 25-23. In the second set, a bullet serve from Abdallah Ahmed whistled past libero Chu Hui, prompting a Chinese TO, and Saleh Youssef brought up the second TTO with Egypt holding a two-point advantage. But Tang continued to score freely for China, who moved ahead 21-20 to force an Egypt TO. A Sui block on Elnaeim and another elegant right-wing winner from Tang carried China to the second set 25-21 to make it 1-1. Shen's attacking talents flourished in the third set, and a soaring winner down the middle put his team up 14-8 and brought an Egypt TO. From 20-15, China closed out the third 25-21 with a Shen spike on the left. Elnaeim started to fire for Egypt in the fourth, and they opened up a handsome early lead with some effective blocking. Ossama Bekheit was also prominent for Egypt, and some slick net work from Elnafrawy took them to the second TTO ahead by five. Despite a few attacking errors, they won the fourth set 25-21. In the tiebreak, Egypt, blocking well, led 8-5 at the turnaround and won 15-12. [Edited on 25-11-2005 by VBFC]
