Originally posted by VBFC 節錄自 世界男排大冠軍杯賽 Quote from World Grand Champions Cup Japan hold on to win Asian marathon Japan beat regional rivals China 3-2 in the third match on the fourth day of the men's World Grand Champions Cup at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Saturday night. Japan came home 15-8 in the tiebreak after the first four sets had been shared. Japan's 25-14, 24-26, 25-20, 35-37, 15-8 success lifted them to 2-2, while dropping China to 0-4. In the first set, Japan came home comfortably 25-14, helped by six points from crowd favourite Yu Koshikawa and five from evergreen captain Masaji Ogino. Tang Miao replied with four for China. As expected, the match between these fierce regional rivals was played at a fast pace, and this did not relent in the second set as they were locked at 11-11. The quality of the Chinese serve threw Japan off course, though, and, at 23-23 in a scrappy second set, Tang rose on the right to bring up set point for China, only for Shen Qiong to serve wildly. On China's second set point, Tang finished the job 26-24 to make it 1-1. As Japan put some daylight between themselves and China late in the third, China called two TOs in quick succession to try and cut out the mistakes. From 20-16, Japan stuttered but eventually came through 25-20 thanks to some power spiking and serving from a fired-up Koshikawa. China jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the fourth, but, with Nobuharu Saito and Kota Yamamura impressive at the net, Japan pulled back. In an incredible end to the fourth set, Japan missed six match points before China clinched it 37-35 on their seventh set point. The fourth set lasted 35 minutes. Japan turned around 8-3 ahead in the tiebreak, aided by some Koshikawa rockets, but Tang, who had scored 28 points in the first four sets, still had not finished his spiking master class. Japan finally won 15-8 on their second match point of the tiebreaker. [Edited on 26-11-2005 by VBFC]
