Originally posted by VBFC 節錄自 世界男排大冠軍杯賽 Quote from World Grand Champions Cup Americans finish in style USA beat China in straight sets in the first game on the last day of the men's World Grand Champions Cup at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Sunday. The Norceca champions and world No. 5 won 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 against the wild card entry to finish their campaign with a 4-1 win-loss record. China, ranked 18th, dropped to 0-5, but lost three of those in five sets. The Americans started as they intended to go on. Behind some blistering serves from Clayton Stanley, they were able to pick off early points, and led 5-0 and 8-3. Ryan Millar was in commanding and aggressive form at the net, and setter Donald Suxho joined in the fun with a slick play. When China attacked, the American block was its usual efficient self, but points machine Tang Miao lifted his team's spirits by spiking through three defenders to put China on the board. Setter Li Chun gave the USA a taste of their own medicine with a crafty score at the net, followed by a sizzling ace, and Xie Wenhao and Yu Dawei both produced sharp winners. But with Stanley and Riley Salmon scoring five points apiece, USA strolled to the opening frame 25-16. In the second set, China found their rhythm. Zhang Chen helped out the prolific Tang and captain Sui Shengsheng on offence, and they made USA work much harder for their points. But the Americans had too much firepower and individual quality, and were able to step it up down the stretch. Stanley, soaring imperiously on the right, brought up set point, and Phillip Eatherton smashed home the decisive point, 25-21. In the third set, USA pulled away to lead 16-11 at the second TTO. Restored to the action, China's Shen Qiong gave the American defence plenty to think about, but victory was in sight for the Americans and they settled it 25-18.
